Ok guys, this is the piece that I'm working on to donate for silent auction on the 13th. That's THIS FRIDAY. Anyways this is to raise money for the patriot guard, who is holding a memorial/honor ride for fallen soldiers from my state.. for those of you who aren't familiar with the patriot guard, they're a group of bikers who provide support to families who lose loved ones in the military. They help keep protesters away from the funerals, and they hold events to raise money, and all kinds of things. They're good people, I have family that's involved in it, and that's why I'm doing this.
Anyways this little fellow needs something else in his picture.. an idea for the background.. something. The picture's theme is 'missing you' but it's missing something itself. If you have any ideas throw them my way. I keep staring at this wondering how to finish it.
And if it helps, it's on 20x30" heavy duty art paper and done in ballpoint pen, inkwash, watercolor and white acrylic paint.
I know nothing about the Patriot Guard, nor am I american - but how about an empty bike? Since you said they were a group of bikers - or a group of people in the distance, signifying the puppy being alone... just ideas!
When I set out to make something for the auction, trust me when I say that a motorcycle was the first choice.. but just like how someone with zero knowledge of anatomy struggles to render the human form, someone with zero mechanical knowledge struggles with motorcycles. I'm on a mission though, by next year I'll hopefully have learned the ins and outs of motorcycles and will be able to draw them, if not take them apart and put them back together. But thank you for your input, I appreciate it!
We decided on a simple wall with a window and to have it appear to be raining outside. And a hardwood floor in the foreground to anchor it.
Yeah, I know I kinda stated the obvious, but had to And that sounds really good too, a window to look through and rain... it fits the missing theme well!
hmm, i suck at backgrounds. =/ I wouldn't overload the picture so that the emphasis stay on the face of the dog. (; Maybe some ground, to give some perspective and emphasis that the dog is ... down (in both sense of the word! xP - siting down, heavy and feeling down) I don't really know what else to suggest. You could had some other objects, but i can't make my mind on anything.
He's got a hardwood floor to lay on now, and a wall and a window behind him. I've got to add some rain on the window and do the wood texture on the floor and he'll be DONE! finallyyyyyyyyyy
I'm thinking I might stick part of another boot on the left side, because it looks like he hasn't got a body, but if I draw one in it's not going to look very good, so I'll cover it up with another boot... but it needs something on the right side still.
